Danny's story:

Barnstaple-born Danny made his debut for City in April 2006 in a 3-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge and scored his first goal for the club two games later in a 4-0 win over Crawley Town.

Danny formed a successful defensive partnership with Matt Taylor during the 2007/08 season and was handed the captaincy as he led the Grecians to promotion via the Conference play-off final in May 2008.

He then signed a two-year contract before the start of the next campaign and was a regular in the team as City gained promotion to League One. He played 23 games for the Grecians in the third tier of English football before signing for Southampton for an undisclosed fee on January 13, 2010.

Danny played 44 games for the Saints in both League One and the Championship but, having been promoted to the Premier League, Southampton released Danny in the summer of 2013. He then went on to play for for Yeovil Town, Coventry City, Partick Thistle and Hamilton.

December 2017 then saw Danny make a return to the Grecians, brought in by Paul Tisdale to aid in defensive cover. He played seven times on his return to the club, featuring against the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Luton Town and Colchester United.

He departed the club again ahead of the 2018/19 season and signed for Derry City.
